Everton have announced the appointment of David Moyes as their new manager. His second time in charge, on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 61-year-old Scotland boss has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to take charge at Goodison Park, replacing Sean Dyche. Who was sacked on Thursday.
“It’s great to be back.”

“We now need Goodison Park and all Everton fans to play their part in getting the players back on track for this important season.”

“So we can move to our fantastic new stadium as a Premier League team,” said Moyes, who has been out of work since guiding West Ham to Europa Conference League glory in 2023 late last season.
For David Moyes, he was in charge of Everton from 2002 to 2013 before managing Manchester United, Real Sociedad, Sunderland and West Ham twice.
Everton currently sit 16th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone, having won just three of their 19 games this season.
How much work does Moyes have to do?
Everton’s numbers in the league this season make for grim reading:
- Only in three seasons in their history have they scored fewer goals after 19 games.
- They have the division’s lowest expected goals (xG) at 18.33.
- Their tally of 63 shots on target is the second lowest behind Southampton’s 58.
- Everton’s average of 0.79 goals per game is their lowest in 13 seasons. It was 1.05 last season and 0.89 in 2022-23.
